“I am very proud to welcome you to The Bhangra Project, the first major project celebrating bhangra culture in the South West.
As well as offering a diverse and exciting program of events to audiences across the region we hope The Bhangra Project will engage and involve wider communities, artists and participants by celebrating diversity, developing partnerships and enhancing the cultural landscape of Bristol and South West region.
The project aims to celebrate and increase awareness of an art form that has firmly established itself within UK culture and to provide a platform for artists to showcase their talent, encouraging them to take risks, create new work and challenge their creative approaches.
By presenting exciting, cutting edge and vibrant bhangra arts events that inspire, challenge and entertain we hope to provide a rare opportunity for audiences to explore and take part in bhangra and The Bhangra Project.
Sincere thanks goes out to our partners and funders National Lottery, Arts Council England, Bristol City Council and all other funders, partners, venues, practitioners, artists, and agencies. Also, a big thanks and congratulations to the Asian Arts Agency team who have worked extremely hard to make this project happen.
I look forward to seeing you at some of the events.”
